Overview
The Skilled Migration program lets qualified workers become permanent residents based on skills that meet Australia's economic needs. Applicants are assessed against a points test that considers age, English, experience, qualifications and nomination.
Eligibility
- Occupation on the relevant skilled list
- Suitable skills assessment from the assessing authority
- Competent English (IELTS 6 or equivalent)
- Under 45 years of age at invitation
- Minimum 65 points on the points test

Not for subclass 189. State-nominated (190) and regional (491) visas do not require an offer either, but nomination is required.
